Sleep My Love

Quite possibly to the dismay of more than a few people, Rio has only even fallen asleep with me whilst breastfeeding. Being a demand fed newborn, then a demand fed baby, and now a demand fed toddler she has always wanted milk to help her into dreamland. I can't explain why she needs it with me, just as you couldn't explain to me why she shouldn't need it - she just does. That's what works for her and I and that is still the way it will continue until she decides otherwise.

But, on that note, I don't think our breastfeeding to sleep routine is far from being over. Rio, as you've seen in a few of my other posts, has taken to copying us in our daily activities. Obviously she sees us snuggling up with our pillows for sleep and of late she has been testing it out herself.

Here, she has taken herself to our bed and jumped in right beside Heineken. She cuddled up with cushions and I saw her also attempting to close her eyes for a nap too. It didn't last long, she was up and off the bed soon after I took this photo - but watching her trying to put herself to bed, without anything forceful from us, was a sweet and very welcome sight!
