I'm Shelley. Mother. Wife. Photographer.

From New Zealand originally, my Dutch husband and I met many moons ago in Australia, where our daughter was also born. Two years ago, after an amazing holiday in the Netherlands we decided we would relocate our little family here and this year in April, realised that decision. So, you know, here we are!

 

I've always looked at everything intensely; loved the crisp deep etchings of an old, grandfather tree; adored tiny fingernails of newborn babies with flaky soft skin; seen with fascination the miniscule rainbows shining inside soap bubbles.

 

My lasting passion in life too, my obsession I guess you could say is taking and keeping photos. It was I that snapped photos of family and friends, printing and tucking them away safe to look upon in the future. This passion has grown dramatically over the years, especially since my daughter Rio was born in 2012. So it was natural for me to choose photography as a career path and even more natural to decide to focus on children, being inspired by the whimsical magic of their innocence and sweet happiness. 

 

Through Capture the Happy I hope to share with you the growth of your family, and for you to share in the growth of mine. I look forward to talking with you to incorporate your hopes and dreams for your family into photographic treasures that will evoke memories and emotion.
